Adspace available, general update, and babble thread
Just thought I’d take a second to point out that after weeks of ads costing a whole two to three cents a day, you can currently get totally free advertising on my site via Project Wonderful… can’t beat free….
Speaking of which, among babble topics (which you are welcome to choose any topic to babble about) can y’all comment on what you think of the ads?
In the meantime, National Novel Writing Month has begun, and I’m already almost two days behind in volume, having a scant 2000 words to my credit.
On the other hand, procrastination on the novel front is leading to less procrastination on the comic front. They’re not high quality (at the moment, anyway, as the procrastination gets worse they’re likely to get quite complex) but at least I’m ahead on the buffer for the first time in a while.

To be honest, I don’t really notice the ads much. I think a built-in advertising filter is pretty much an involuntary survival function in this day and age.
On a unrelated note, check out the secondary headline in this article about yet ANOTHER toy recall:

“RECALLS SHOULD BOOST CONFIDENCE”
Really? So I should be reassured by the fact that every toy I buy is probably coated in lead and every food product is likely to give me botulism? Apparently I don’t understand how consumer confidence works. The only thing I’m confident about is that anything I buy has a 50/50 chance of killing my entire family.

what with all of the whining? in my day, we played with our lead toys and botulism laced meat and we liked it. made us stronger and put hair on our chest.
which i guess didn’t work out well for my sisters…

I must agree about the ads. They just don’t register, most of the time.
As for the recalls… I’d feel a lot more confident if they announced “hey! we found bad stuff in these toys/food products so we didn’t ship them.

On the subject of the ads, if you could choose the ads to ignore, would you prefer to ignore google ads, amazon ads, or these project wonderful ads?
and i’d like to know where the heck china’s getting all this lead in the first place. is lead the most commonly found natural metal or something?

i think ignoring google ads is better because you never know what keywords google will choose and you get some funny ads.
